Everything you might want to know before working with me
Do you charge a fee?
I work on a commission-only basis — you never pay me directly for planning your trip. The one exception is a small, fully refundable fee via my quote form (paid through Buy Me a Coffee), which is simply there to filter out casual browsers from people who are genuinely ready to plan. If you go on to book with me, that fee is refunded in full.
How long will it take to hear back after I submit a quote request?
Once I have everything I need, you’ll usually hear back within 3 days — often quicker. I’d rather under-promise and over-deliver than leave you waiting.
When do I need to pay?
I’ll need your deposit as soon as possible to secure and confirm your trip. The balance is typically due 14 weeks before departure. If you’re booking closer to your travel date, full payment may be required upfront — I’ll always make this clear before you commit to anything.
What’s included when you put a quote together?
As standard, I can arrange flights, accommodation, transfers, luggage, car hire, and airport parking — whatever you need. If I spot something that I think would genuinely benefit your trip but you haven’t asked for it, I’ll flag it as an optional extra rather than assume. And I’m here for any questions before, during, and after you travel.
What’s not included?
A few things sit outside what I book directly, though I’ll always point you in the right direction:
- Travel insurance — I don’t sell this myself, but I can put you in touch with a trusted provider
- Visas — I’ll let you know if you need one and send you the official links to apply
- Currency — I’ll advise on what you’ll need, but I don’t sell it
- Optional excursions — I’m happy to book these for you, or send you my GetYourGuide/Viator links so you can browse and choose
- Tourist taxes — some destinations charge these locally on arrival; I’ll flag it where relevant
- Passport validity, visas & vaccinations — I’ll always highlight anything you need to check, but the responsibility to action these sits with you
- Tipping customs — I’ll include local guidance in your itinerary document so there are no surprises
What if I need to make changes after booking?
Let me know as soon as possible — name changes, date changes, anything. The earlier we deal with it, the easier (and often cheaper) it is. Whatever the change, it’ll depend on the individual supplier’s policy, so timing, process, and any costs involved will vary trip to trip. I’ll always talk you through your options.
What happens if something goes wrong while I’m away?
Your first port of call is usually the supplier’s emergency contact line — they’re often best placed to resolve things quickly on the ground. But I’m always your second point of contact, and for some issues, happy to be your first. You’re never on your own out there.
Why book with you instead of doing it myself online?
A few reasons:
- Protection — book with me and you’re ABTA and ATOL protected. DIY bookings through sites like Skyscanner or Booking.com aren’t a package, so if one part goes wrong, you may not get your money back.
- No overwhelm — I do the research so you don’t have to. Your trip is planned and tailored around you, not a generic template.
- Access — I work with around 100 suppliers, many not available to the general public, often with offers you won’t find browsing alone.
- Personal fit — I get to know your travel style, so what I put together actually suits you.
- Ongoing support — before, during, and after you travel.
- Trusted recommendations — I only suggest places I’d genuinely be happy to stay or visit myself.
- No extra cost — my expertise comes free. If you don’t book, I don’t get paid — so there’s never any pressure.
How do I get started?
The easiest way is to fill in my quote form — it captures pretty much everything I need in one go. I’m also happy to hear from you by email, WhatsApp, or DM, whichever suits you best. To get moving, it helps if you can have ready: your travel dates, rough budget, flight/accommodation preferences, and number of travellers (including ages of any children).
